LET US NOT BECOME WEARY IN DOING GOOD, FOR AT THE PROPER TIME WE WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP · GALATIANS 6:9

Sweet Sisters,

I wasn't sure when our Spring line would launch, but as God would have it, it's launching the same week we're going to soak in words just a few sentences after the Fruit of the Spirit characteristics are listed. The end of Galatians is packed full of truth (I highly recommend reading it for yourself) and though we normally break down each promise for you, this is mostly what I mostly want you to hear today: You cannot muster up enough energy to avoid "growing weary of good works" on your own. You cannot add love, joy, and peace to your attitude through your own self determination and high moral standards. You cannot wake up thinking "today is going to be a hard day, I think I'll add a little extra dose of patience to my mindset as I go about it" effectively.

But in Galatians 5:25 Paul tells us "if we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit" and that's where we find the good stuff. To demonstrate fruit and carry energy as we do good works:

1. We remember that we literally live by the Spirit. We praise God that we have a new life because of His beautiful plan that resulted in us being a fresh creation full of the Holy Spirit, Himself! We repent of pride, self-righteousness, and our "I'll do it myself, thanks" attitude and humbly acknowledge that it is only by the Spirit we live.

2. And then we walk by the Spirit. The word walk (or "walk in step" in some translations) is supposed to conjure up the image of marching in line as a soldier. We aren't to walk willy nilly or alone; we are to always keep in step with the Spirit, trusting His guidance as we go. Our feet move, arms reach out, head nods, as His does. Can you picture it? We walk towards people in need, reach out our excess finances and spare food, nod "yes" as He asks us to be obedient and open up our doors to a weary soul.  We exude kindness, goodness, faithfulness because we are in step with The One who can exude nothing less.

Oh friends, we were not made to have all the right answers or capabilities for goodness. We were meant to be lead by The One who does. Do not grow weary as you walk in step with the Spirit. Keep going-- you will surely reap a harvest of beautiful, Godly fruit if you do not give up.

Love, Katie
