Dear Mushka,

Home Tour: Playroom, Mudroom, and Studio

We moved into our home Summer 2018, after renovating its (very poorly) flipped rooms. The house is quirky in imperfect- a true 1970's ranch home- and it's exactly what this growing family wanted.

I don't have great before pictures (drats!) but here's one from what is now our playroom. We wanted to keep the built-ins, but they were actually falling off the walls. The other side of the room had cork walls, so we took those down and added two closets.

The unglamorous side of renovating: discovering the mold and water damage hidden behind poor flip jobs.

But here's this space now! Scooters no longer allowed inside ;)

Wall color: Requisite Grey by Sherwin Williams

Map: Gathre

Bench: Handmade

Blocks: Melissa & Doug (a beloved toy in our home)

Rug: Rugs USA

Basket: TJ Maxx

Trampoline (not pictured, but mentioned in my IG story- we LOVE this thing)

Curtains: Hearth & Hand. They still need to be hemmed & steamed, but well worth buying the 95" length.

Shelves: IKEA

Books: Maps, How To, Stuck, Julia Child, The Gardeners, Jabari Jumps, Up in the Garden, Who Sang the First Song

Ottoman: Goodwill

Couch: Sprintz (no longer available)

Rug: Rugs USA

The boys were gifted this kitchen last Christmas and play with it almost every day!

Kitchen: Hearth & Hand (sold out at Target, available here)

These bins make organizing the toys easy and doable. Even my two year old knows how to pulls balls in the ball bin, trucks in the truck bin, etc. And the best part is that they're only a few dollars each.

Lots of sizes available here.

What was once the laundry room is now Robert's office. It isn't done yet so no photo here, but you can see it in the background of the one below.

Wall Color: Homburg Grey by Sherwin Williams (proof that you should test every color in your home before you paint; this reads more teal in our home than online; I love it)

Runner: Anthropologie

Sign: Smallwoods

This isn't a great before picture of our mudroom space; it was actually an open breezeway when we bought the house! Here it is with drywall, tile, and a door.

We painted the original outdoor brick (Snowbound by Sherwin Williams) and made it our laundry room. All our outdoor doors are painted Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams (seen a tiny bit in the photo).

We still need to cover up all those laundry connections. Ahh, the never ending to-do list :)

Laundry Bins: Amazon

Drying Rack: Amazon

Sink: Wayfair (can't find the link, sorry!)

Here's a very messy photo to show you how this mudroom really functions. We each have a "cubby" for jackets, purses, hats, etc. All our boys shoes and socks stay in their baskets; Robert and I keep some shoes in our closet, but our most worn ones are here. We have a no-shoes-in-the-house policy so they usually don't come past this point.

We also don't have a garage space so strollers, chalk, helmets, etc end up here.

The bottom of this cabinet has our cat's litter box in it. If you're building/ renovating a home try to think about details like that. It makes all the difference!

To the right of this photo heads into our house; to the left of this photo heads into our garage-turned-studio!

When we moved into this house we knew Dear Mushka could function out of our garage for a time while we figured out her long-term home. We're about at max capacity, but it's working for now.

Most of the white furniture is from Ikea. The table is old from World Market. Orders get packaged there!

The rug is from Rugs USA. The black shelves are old from Wal-Mart.

·

I'll be back soon with the rest of our house!

July Bestsellers | Christian Jewelry and Apparel

We’re about to hit our 30,000th order here at Dear Mushka and we thought it would be fun to completely refund whoever places that order! So keep this in mind if you were thinking of ordering one of the July Bestsellers I’m about to share, or if you want to order a few pieces as gifts for you and your friends - if you hit the 30,000th order you’ll be refunded 100%🎉

I hope it’s you!

Many of the top ten items over here at Dear Mushka for this month are clearly gifts, and some of them are just for you, too. Yay! Let’s count them down!

10 The Priority Rings

Slip the Priority Rings on your hands and remember to first seek God before whatever else your fingers run to - social media, to-do lists, etc. My prayer is that seeing these rings on your fingers will be a reminder to seek first the Kingdom of God.

I leave mine on all the time and they are so easy to wear! Feel free to get a few in different sizes to wear on different fingers, stacked or as a midi ring.

9 The Together Necklace

The Together Necklace comes in gold or silver and has three different verse card options to match the piece. It is our adoption necklace with the international symbol for adoption being represented as a triangle with a heart.

The triangle shows the three sides of an adoption - the birth mother, adoptive parents and the child. Our verse card options also match these three different people involved in an adoption.

We gave this piece to my sons birthmother and birth grandmother and they loved them! It definitely shows how much you value and love the birth mother, no matter the situation. If you’re adopting or have a friend that is adopting, ADD THIS TO YOUR CART.

8 The Aid Necklace

The Aid Necklace comes in gold, rose gold and silver options. The design is a stardust bead and represents filling the hole in your heart that was created by loss. This piece is for miscarriage, loss of a loved one or any season of grieving. It makes the perfect gift.

7 But First Pray Shirt

This T-shirt was on sale this month and still is, however, we just have XL’s left! It has football sleeves, is super cosy and covers your bum. This piece screams Fall outfit to me.

6 It Is Well Tote

This tote bag is the perfect size! It’s a cute farmer’s market bag, bible study bag or pool bag. I love the idea of this bag with your more quiet time items next to your chair - so cute!

It’s an excellent add-on to receive free shipping or to gift it with a few goodies tucked inside. We are not going to restock these when they are gone so grab it now if you want to use them for your Christmas gifts!

5 The Renew Earrings

The Renew Earrings come in teal and and grey. I thought the teal would be a little bright but it’s muted and so good! The grey feels so dreamy and I am loving them with a basic white tee. They come paired with a verse card from Romans 12:2 and remind us to sweep away the thoughts of this world to clear your mind and make room for what God calls good.

These would pair so well with a plaid or flannel shirt for Fall!

4 The Carried Bracelet

The Carried Bracelet has been in the Dear Mushka store for the longest time and continues to be a favorite. The design pairs so well with its verse and gives the imagery of God’s arms wrapping around you. This piece is my go-to gift for baby showers or anytime someone needs a reminder that God is carrying you as you carry little ones!

Our bracelets are so good. They are made from brass, are super durable and you can adjust them for a good fit.

3 The Today Earrings

The Today Earrings are so easy to wear and I have literally worn them all summer. They are such a fun stud with their little detailing that catch the light. They come paired with a verse card that reminds us that this is the day that the Lord has made and that through Jesus, we can rejoice no matter what.

2 The Resolved Necklace

The Resolved Necklace comes in gold or silver. Wearing it reminds us that when we keep our mind focused on God (the moonstone) we will experience lasting peace. I love to pray on this piece with “Lord, show me where I’m not keeping my mind focused on you!”.

1 The Companion Bracelets!

The Companion Bracelets are always in our top ten jewelry pieces each and every month. These come two to an order! Two bracelets, two verse cards for a take on a friendship bracelet. It makes the perfect gift for someone who has really been supporting you lately. I love the idea of gifting this with a note that says “thank you for lifting me up in this season”.

There are 7 color options and they are very reasonably priced for two in an order. So many of you have told me stories of you and your BFF both buying a set for one another! It makes the perfect everyday piece and can be easily paired with a basic tee for a simple and put-together look.

I hope you enjoyed learning more about the designs behind these pieces and that you feel equipped to love your people well! Be sure to follow us on Instagram to watch our daily stories.

My Go-To Parenting Books

I love to read and have always found a wealth of helpful knowledge and wisdom in books. Here are my go-tos when it comes, specifically, to raising up children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

(Click photos for a direct link)

1. The Bible. And I don't say this lightly! If you are longing for wisdom on how to raise children who know and love God, prioritize your own knowledge and love of the Lord. The only way you can rightly reflect His character is to make a study of it.

While The Bible doesn't address specific disciplinary issues like entire other books do, it is full of wisdom straight from the heart of God on every issue we could want. Friendships, sibling relationships, telling the truth, handling anger, etc.

2. This is the best parenting book I have ever read, aside from the Bible. It isn't very practical (which drove me nuts at first), but gets to the heart of our role as parent and what it should look like. It radically changed how I see raising children, and is a book I reference often. I can't recommend it more!

“When you think your job is to change your child and you’ve been given the power to do it, your parenting will tend to be demanding , aggressive, threatening, and focused on rules and punishments. In this kind of parenting you are working to make your children into something rather than working to help them to see something and seek something. In this form of parenting, it is all about you and your children, rather than you being an agent of what only God can do in your children. Your hope is that you will exercise the right power, at the right time, and in the right way so change in your children will result. That process is profoundly different than working to be a useful tool in the hands of a God of glorious transforming grace, who alone is your hope and the hope of your children.”
― Paul David Tripp

3. This was the first book I read that encouraged me to use scripture to guide the little hearts in my home. It was such an obvious answer, but I'd never seen it done before! The book is practical with lots of examples, and packed with scripture.

(We have a new product coming this Fall that you'll love if you loved this book!)

4. I've made it a point to ask great parents what helped them as they learned to instruct their children, and they almost always include this book as one of the most beneficial tools. And after reading it, I see why!

It's written by Christians and has scripture inside, but is incredibly practical. It walks through parenting with consequences instead of threats, shame, etc and has lots of examples to learn from. I'm having my husband read it now!

5. This book is similar to the one above. It's recommended over and over again, is full of practical examples, and is packed with wisdom from people who really understand the way children think.

There were a few chapters/examples in this book that I put into action and immediately saw changes from. It's excellent!

6. Sally Clarkson has been a spiritual mother to me through her writing, and it all started with this book. Its goal is similar to no.2 on this list, getting to the real heart and purpose of motherhood. She draws you into her home and experiences as a mother, encouraging and motivating you do live each day intentionally.

“My calling as a mother is the same as any other Christian’s: to fulfill God’s will for our lives and to glorify him. This means I am to follow the Lord’s design for my marriage—cleaving to my husband, supporting him, honoring him, loving him as my own flesh. I am to be a careful steward of the world in which I live. I am to seek opportunities to bring God’s message of redemption to others, to make full use of the gifts and talents he has placed in my life to bring him glory and further his kingdom. And I am to delight in him and worship him and praise him in whatever circumstance I find myself.”

7. This is another Sally Clarkson book. It's less about discipline and more about a home's God-loving culture, but it encouraged me to be more intentional and consistent in my parenting, so I included it here, too.

8. If you have boys, this has been a great read and reference. My heart is wired so differently from the men in my home, I need to know how they operate and think! This one is broken up into age sections so I've read a few chapters and will continue to go back to it as my boys get older. So helpful!

9. I haven't read this yet, but the Risen Motherhood podcast has been such a helpful resource for me (and so many others!) in motherhood, I know the book will be just as lovely. I'm so grateful for other women walking this road alongside me, longing to glorify Christ in all we do.

How To Start Memorizing Scripture

Today if I were to sit down for coffee with all of you amazing women I’d want to share with you something that John Piper taught me that really changed the way I approach memorizing scripture.

This idea kept me from feeling overwhelmed and I am so pleased to share it with you because the more scripture we know, the better! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (among other verses) tells us what scripture does for us. We need to know God’s Word because it has the power to change us, it’s what offers us truth and shows us how to live our lives.

We NEED to have scripture stored in our heart and it's true that all scripture is profitable for knowing and memorizing. Also, it’s just good for our brains to be able to memorize large chunks of scripture!

The more scripture we know, the more it will come out in our words and actions. However, it can be hard to know where to begin with memorizing and it can be overwhelming to start.

John Piper has been a great (long distance!) spiritual mentor for me - I trust him, know he’s memorized large chunks of the Bible and has walked a lot of life. So the idea he has given of Fighter Verses has been really helpful!

Fighter Verses

You start to use the Fighter Verse method for memorizing scripture by looking at your life and choosing around 5 categories that you need to combat. These can be sins, temptations or trials that you find yourself constantly dealing with. You then choose one verse for each category - these are the verses you memorize first!

You don’t have to start with the whole Bible. What’s the one thing your heart needs to remember or fight against these days? Write it on a notecard or make it into a piece of jewelry😉. Take it one situation at a time and be ready to fight with God’s truth and words, remembering the verse.

To give you some ideas, I’ll share John Piper’s six categories and if we have a corresponding jewelry piece in our collection, I’ll share that, too. Most of our jewelry pieces are built on these verses for this very reason.

John Piper says the motor of his mind is neutral and the hum of the gears is the sound of Isaiah 41:10. This is one of his favorite verses of all time and it corresponds with our Held Bracelet. This is his go-to verse because he wants to remember that God is our God and that He will strengthen, help, uphold and not go anywhere!

The next verse, Isaiah 55:11, relates to his ministry work because he is a pastor and is great for any of us in public ministry like I am.

He used the next verse to reflect his fear of being too weak to do his work. We actually made this verse into an art print and I keep it right by my kitchen sink so I can be reminded that when I am the weakest, His glory and strength shine.

Future Decisions was also something he wanted to focus on and the verse he paired with it is reflective of our Guide Necklace that comes in four different colors and hangs at 14”. This is one of my verses that I have adopted, too!

He uses Romans 8:31 for opponents. So if you feel like you’re constantly walking up against enemies and people who are combating you, this is a great verse for you.

The last one he chose was for the welfare of loved ones - Matthew 7:11.

So these are the topics he chose that he felt he needed a verse to fight for and remember.

These were his six, here are the ones I’ve chosen over the year (at least, I started here and added more as time went on!).

Wisdom reflects Psalm 32:8 and goes together with our Guide Necklace. I usually wear the light grey one and call back this verse back to God repeatedly. I pray the verse back to God and use them for worship.

Weakness reflects 2 Corinthians 12:9 and Pslam 73 is usually what I go to for weakness (a Dear Mushka piece is coming for this verse this Fall!)

Welfare for Family and Children is paired with Lamentations 3 that comes with the Portion Necklace. It is a reminder that the Lord is my portion, not my children or husband or comfort.

Focusing on my purpose keeps me from comparing myself to others and my verse for purpose is 1 Peter 2:9 which actually comes paired with our first choker necklace! This verse is powerful and reminds me that my job is to proclaim and share His good news. I am chosen.

James 1:2-4 is my verse for trials and suffering which we just made into the Complete Necklace and comes in both gold and silver. This verse reminds me that my trials are changing my heart towards perfection.

You may want a verse for anxiety, rest, jealousy, anger, generic sin, etc. You need to think about what you are constantly battling with in your life, whatever keeps you from resting in the goodness of God - start there.

Your concordance in your Bible or Google is a great place to find a verse. Write it on a notecard or post-it, search our website for a jewelry piece to match it if you want something as a reminder.

Having these memorized has helped me so much in my life and I’m able to share God’s word and wisdom with others so much easier because I’ve stored them deep in my heart.I hope you've found meaning here, too!

How to Organize & Store Jewelry

I'm frequently asked how I organize my personal collection of jewelry, so I thought I'd roundup some stands that I love!

What I love about this general design is that you have an organized place for each kind of jewelry type, and in a relatively small footprint. There's a place for various necklace lengths (30", 18", and 16") as well as a place for rings and bracelets, and the bottom for earrings.

It isn't hard for me to quickly grab what I need and put it back right where it goes to prevent tangling.

1. This is the one I own and use every daily. I love the concrete bottom, which is heavy enough to keep me from knocking it over, and the beautiful rose gold color. So feminine! It also comes in silver and marble if you prefer that look.

2. The one above happens to come with a matching piece that I own, too. I've tucked nicer pieces of jewelry in here that I don't wear as often.

This combo is heavy and solid- I've used it for almost ten years and it's still going strong.

3. This is another cute option. It comes in three color ways and has holes for earrings if you thought you might take the time to use them. Otherwise, you could just hang dangles over the bar and put studs on the bottom tray.

I like that this one has an extendable top rack.

4. This is made by the same brand as the one I use, but is less expensive and a little more of a simple design. I'd worry my stud earrings would roll around (perhaps that's just a problem with little kids about), but you could put a little ring tray on the bottom to store those in.

5. Here's a sleek black option (also comes in gold). The top rack isn't quite as tall as others so be aware of how much hight you need.

The Motivation You Need To Read Your Bible Every Day

My life is busy and stressful just like yours with three children (one being a newborn) so I often show myself reading my Bible in the morning to encourage you to do the same. I have decided that it is a priority and the most important thing in my life to spend time with the Lord!

I love knowing that we, as Sisters, are all joining together all around the world and are opening up the exact same Book to read and learn from and guide our lives by.

I’ve learned that when I am not reading scripture it is almost always because I have decided that it is not important for that day, for that season. Sometimes this is a conscious or subconscious decision that we are too busy to pursue God.

We think we can do our lives with the Words He has given.

It’s easy to think that we don’t believe or think this to be true, but our actions say something different when we aren’t prioritizing scripture.

What I love about the way that God describes His Word is when He compares it to bread and living water! When we don’t eat, we’re okay for a little while and then … hangry. Eating food or drinking water changes everything and God’s Word is even more important than it.

Jesus even says that Man shall not live by bread (food) alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. This is how important it is!

I think that one of the reasons we don’t treat God’s Word as if it’s important is because we treat the Bible as if it’s a book about ourselves and when we do this it always ends up lacking power and meaning when we think that it’s for our own answers. It is, first, a book about GOD!

Learning about our Creator and Saviour is far more interesting and captivating, I promise. He is so good and big and incredible! We store up goodness for our hearts and minds when we read about the Lord instead of thinking it to be all about us. Finding characteristics of God to cling to has made ALL the difference in my mindset and joy.

Bathe yourself in the truth of God’s character that we see and trust from scripture. Our most important job as Christians is to remember it - which is why I keep coming back to the Word because without it I forget!

Remember who God is. Remember what He’s done. Remember that He loves us and remember to share His goodness through reading your Bible daily.

If I’m not re-reading regularly, the things I need to remember will trickle to the back of my mind and current trials will slip to the front.

This is why I read my Bible every morning. My challenge for you is to dig into your why. If you have a real obstacle where maybe you’re chronically ill or unable to read for whatever reason perhaps you can listen or have someone read to you. For the rest of us, we’re probably just busy and can find time to prioritize the Lord through His word.

Set aside time tomorrow to pursue God. Start in Genesis, Psalms or even Matthew. Write down who God is! Think about what you have written and pray thanksgiving for Him. That’s how we feel God’s presence!

How To Read Through Psalms

Here’s how I read through the Psalms using the Crayola Twistables. I love using them as they are color pencils you’re able to erase! This is the only section of my Bible where I color code. Sometimes I might make little notes to the side like a journal, but I’m not using this for the purpose of making my Bible look beautiful or to decorate it.

If you’d like to see the video sharing this Bible study process, you can find it saved here on my IG highlights.

I color code the Psalms so that I’m easily able to open my Bible and find whatever my heart needs quickly! It’s wonderful to be able to open your Bible and get what you need without having to read through the whole Psalm during times of need. Here’s my color code key for reference:

Brown

Distress, low times, suffering, etc. For when I’m needing to see how God has helped and answered others during these times.

Orange

Shows me God’s character. It’s incredible to open your Bible and see these highlighted, it’s like balm for the soul.

Green

Words I want to pray. Obviously the Psalms are the prayer books of the Bible, but some of them are more clear and I color them to repeat over and over again. I also copy these words into my prayer notebook or scribble them on post-its around the house.

Pink

I use pink to depict me and God’s people. Usually together with the orange color coded sections I find ways in which we should act in light of God’s character. This has helped me start to see themes and how it’s a lot of thanking and telling others!

I hope this inspires you to share God’s goodness and power and mighty acts with anyone. I am so honored to get to do it with you!

Today I challenge you to read through Psalm 145, pray back a verse or two with God. Meditate on His truth and write down His good works in your life. Then share them with someone!

Here is the study Bible I’ve been using for 15 years: ESV Reformation Study Bible

Which Jewelry To Pack For Travelling

Let’s talk about travelling with jewelry and my go-to pieces for when I go on trips! I just got back from a vacation at the beach and I find that I enjoy travelling really simply - especially when I’m travelling with my three boys and going to the beach.

One necklace.
One or two pairs of earrings.
One bracelet.
Done.

Here are the Dear Mushka pieces I chose to travel with for this family vacation to Florida:

A Simply Necklace

The Essential Necklace is a great, everyday piece. This necklace goes with everything and even when you’re just wearing a plain tee it adds the perfect amount of pop and sparkle. It looks cute with a dress, bathing suit, tee, date night dress-up, whatever!

The reason I chose this specific piece for this trip is that is reflects Micah 6:8 and I find it essential for everyday life. We can cling to Jesus’ ability to do things perfectly and we can pray for help to do likewise.

This verse and necklace reminds me when I’m away to do justice, practice love and kindness, and to walk humbly.

Everyday Earrings

The Goodness Earrings are earrings I turn to a lot of the time when I’m travelling because they are so easy. I often forget that they are even in and they do with absolutely everything. You don’t even need to worry about packing another pair to be honest!

It comes paired with Ephesians 2:10 and it serves as a reminder that even while on vacation, we must continue to live as Christians. There are people who need Jesus’ love and care no matter where you are going. I talked to so many people on the beach this year and praying this verse every morning made such a difference in my heart.

Fun Earrings

Earrings with a little bit of dangle and fun can be great to bring on vacation for when you want to dress things up a little. The Storm Earrings and The Poise Earrings are great options!

The Storm Earrings are lightweight with no earring back to mess with, they just slip on and are so easy. They look beautiful with a simple tee and can be really casual but also transition to a fancier outfit with ease.

I think bringing on simple pair of studs on your trips and one pair of hanging earrings works so well for every occasion. These have been in our shop for YEARS and you all love them as much as I do - if you haven’t purchased a pair yet, you’ll for sure want to add them to your next order👏

I though about this reflective verse so much in Florida as it often rained on the beach while we were there.

Let us press on to know the Lord, He will come to us as sure as the showers!

It rains for at least a few minutes every year at the beach. I can rely on that! And the Lord is even more reliable.

Bracelets!

The last item I bring along is a bracelet or two. It’s always a toss between the Carried Bracelet and the Parallel for my most worn. The are both brass and strong and durable.

I love the way they look with the Companion Bracelet - I love the white but they come in six other colors. They also give a great vacation look!

Packing Your Jewelry

I also wanted to share that our packaging for all of our jewellery pieces is intentional. They each come with their verse cards and the chains are attached in a smaller bag with washi tape.

You can easily reuse the washiest tape to attach your verse card to a wall or mirror or your computer so you can see it at all times. The small bag is perfect for traveling with your jewelry!

You also get a larger size cloth bag that comes packaged with your order that you can toss all your jewelry in to keep it in one sage spot while traveling.

And that’s how I travel with jewelry so that it doesn't become more important than my people and I get to take the Gospel with me while I’m away from home.

Our Family Trip to 30A

I've been vacationing to Florida basically every year since I was little. My family used to do Destin or Panama City, and now we go with Robert's family to the "30A" strip of beaches that runs in between those two big cities.

It's such a fun area- packed with good places to eat, bike paths for traveling the few miles between beach after beach, and lots of memories.

The boys (ages 4, 2, 3 months) did so well in the car! We left early in the morning when we knew our youngest would be most apt to take a good nap. For the other two, I packed them each a "car bag" with a few car activities and snacks. We also checked out library books that they weren't allowed to look at until we were traveling. (The bags also had a change of clothes inside because #reallife). After they enjoyed the car activities for a few hours, they were allowed to watch a movie on the iPad.

A few things in their bags:

This, this, this (non messy creativity), and this

Our condo room (here!) wasn't ready when we got there so we spent a few hours at The Hub. It's a really cool area, with lots of walk-up places to grab food, comfy seating, shopping, and most importantly astroturf for wiggly kids to run around on. We got lunch, ice cream, and lots of energy out!

Everyday, we ate breakfast and hung out in the condo for a few hours while our littlest guy took a morning nap. Then we headed to the beach for a few hours, where we spent the majority of the time in the ocean... and eating snacks/lunch. Around 1, we'd come inside for naps/ quiet time. Robert got a few hours of work in and I enjoyed reading (and napping, too!) Then, more beach time until the boys were absolutely ready for bed. 6:30pm on the beach is the best time, we didn't want to miss it!

I packed the boys' lunches and dinners in these boxes to make mealtimes easy. I didn't cook dinner once- they loved eating sandwiches, fruit, and goldfish on the beach every day.

Robert and I went out twice (below) and otherwise ate simple foods, too. It was really nice to take a cooking break for a week :)

We were there over the 4th of July, which is fun. Almost every beach from Destin to Panama City has their own firework show so you can sit on the beach (or condo patio) and watch them all go off. Individuals do their own shows on the beach, too!

On my birthday, Robert and I went on a date to la Crema- it's an excellent tapas and chocolates restaurant in Rosemary Beach. I'm already excited to go back next year ha! Another night, we went out with family to George's. It gets really crowded, especially towards the end of the week, so plan to go early!

On the last night, we played in the ocean until everyone was completely prune-y and ate pizza on the beach.

It was such a special week, and proof that you can travel (albeit, just a few states away) with three little children. Of course, we were all exhausted at the end but memories were made and we loved being together for a solid week!

Rejoice in Each New Day with the Today Earrings

The Today Earrings are new to the Dear Mushka jewelry collection. They are brass studs that catch the light beautifully!

I actually tried to launch these exact earrings a few years ago but only made a few samples as I couldn’t get the materials for more. I was upset, you were upset and we all just loved these! I didn’t even get a pair to keep and was so sad.

But this is the season! We have 100 pairs ready for you🙌

The Today Earrings are from Psalm 118 and this chapter is just so good!

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! You may have heard or sung the verse before, perhaps when you were younger. However, this verse is just so powerful when you read the whole chapter - it is not meant to be happy and cheerful like we usually sing it.

The palmist is not praising the Lord in the midst of a perfect life, he knows suffering and distress and he’s praising God regardless. He is begging the Lord to be his refuge and strength despite having a hard life.

So these earrings represent the magic of this verse. They remind us that no matter what, giving thanks allows us to rejoice in the day God has made. God wants good things for us whether we understand His doings or not.

My hope and prayer is that if you grab these, that you read all of Psalm 118 and meditate on its truths.
